A PROFILE OF AMBASSADOR (DR.) MARTIN IHOEGHIAN UHOMOIBHI
Ambassador (Dr.) Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi is the President and Founder of Pan African Institute of Global Affairs and Strategy (PAIGAS), Abuja.
He was Under Secretary General of the United Nations and Joint Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Chairperson of the African Union to the AU-UN Hybrid Mission in Darfur, Sudan. He was also Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010-2014). Prior to that, he was Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Switzerland between March 2007 and February 2010. In the same period, he was Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the UN Office and other International organizations in Geneva; President of the UN Human Rights Council, President of the General Assembly, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Coordinator of the African Group of Ambassadors on Health Matters at the World Health Organization. A Scholar Diplomat, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree (BA)Honours in History and Master of Arts(MA) in History and Political Science from the University of Ibadan and then a Doctor of Philosophy degree(D.Phil.) in Modern History and International Relations from Oxford University, in the United Kingdom.
Ambassador (Dr.) Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi was born 3 November 1954 in Ewatto, Esan South Local Government of Edo State, Nigeria.
He is a Knight of Saint John’s International (KSJI), a Knight of Saint Gregory the Great (KSG), and a member of the Executive Committee of the Geneva Diplomatic Club. He is also Dan Majen Koko, Kebbi State and the Ebosatale of Ewatto Kingdom, Edo state. He is a Fellow of the Historical Society of Nigeria and a recipient of the prestigious National Honours Award of the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR).
